LIGHT OF HOPE

ADULT COMMUNITY INTEGRATION DAY PROGRAM

SERVICES

We train our Support Guides to accompany our clients in the community and to
help implement the following services:

SOCIAL SKILLS:
Navigating successfully through life means interacting with others in our community.  We assist our clients in overcoming the barriers that may hinder them and keep them from connecting with others.  Those barriers could be communication skills, shyness, a lack of confidence, the inability to express feelings, or the inability to listen to others.  We are here to help make the path easier.

Employment

JOB PLACEMENT:
What a great feeling it is to be able to work and earn your own money.  It gives one a sense of independency and responsibility.  This is our desire for our clients, so we go the extra mile to help make that happen by preparing them for the world of work through individualized mentoring, training through volunteer positions, and assisting them with applying for jobs and filling out the applications.

SELF ADVOCACY:
We encourage our clients to stand up and make their own decisions, let their opinions be known, and fight for their rights!
First, we will implement a plan based on the individual to help them recognize their rights and needs, and how to access information that will assist them in getting their needs met while encouraging them to communicate their interest.

Creating partnerships with Local Establishments enable us to offer experiences in these classes to help enrich the lives of our clients, boosting their self-image and making them as independent as they can be.

PERSON-CENTERED PRACTICES:

We are firm in our conviction that all clients are given the same level of loving care, courtesy, and fairness of treatment, but we also realize the individualism of each client, so we take full advantage of Person-Centered Practices (PCP) to assist them individually in reaching their goals and overcoming personal barriers that hinder their progress in elevating life skills to their fullest potential, and becoming as active as they can in their community.  Along with using the proper tools, strategies, and planning to enable each client to live a meaningful life, through the establishment of PCP, we (staff/parents) learn how to listen in various ways to understand what our clients are saying, and what their personal choices are.  We endeavor to help each one to live a life of freedom!

We also offer Behavioral Support and Speech Therapy through qualified volunteers in our local community.

CREATIVE & PERFORMING ARTS:

"Where dreams come alive and spirits shine like stars!" --- Gwendolyn Trudo
In this program, we offer our clients the opportunity to experience the joys of their hearts!  Maybe they dream of recording a song in a studio, or performing on stage in a play or singing or dancing; Someone just might want to have that chance to hang their art work in an art gallery!  These experiences help to build the confidence needed in their lives  when seeking and obtaining employment. We are here to sprinkle the gold dust of possibilities upon the lives of our clients!  We can make it happen!  We will make it happen!

THE BEYOND REFERRAL PROGRAM

This program is offered to clients who are transitioning to independent living or are already living independently and need assistance in maintaining their independency.   The program(s) we refer them to will assist with personal life management such as home maintenance and organization, meal planning and preparations, shopping, budgeting, personal hygiene, community safety, etc....
